2020 Radiosurgery Society® Annual Scientific Meeting

March 11, 2020

The Radiosurgery Society (RSS) Board of Directors and 2020 Scientific Planning Committee have been closely monitoring the events and circumstances surrounding the spread of the cornonavirus-19 (COVID-19). After considering the concerns of our RSS community, the results of the recent RSS survey and the impact of restricted travel recommendations in place at multiple medical institutions and companies, the RSS Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 RSS Scientific Meeting scheduled to take place April 2-4, 2020 in Washington DC. The two pre-symposia: Advancements in GRID/Lattice, Microbeam and FLASH and Immunology, Immunotherapy and Radiation Oncology scheduled to take place April 1, 2020 are also canceled.

The health, well-being and safety of our meeting attendees are of utmost importance and priority. As professionals in the healthcare field who work directly with cancer patients with compromised immune systems, and the elderly - often with multiple comorbidities, it is vital that our meeting attendees are not put at risk for contracting any illness. This is an unprecedented time for all, but the RSS remains committed to meeting the needs of our membership and RSS community. Many of you have attended the annual RSS meetings over the past decade, hundreds of participants have been preparing presentations for this meeting, and have been eagerly awaiting our educational program including the latest technologies, scientific advancements and personally engaging with experts, old friends and new colleagues.

While we are addressing the unforeseen change in course and direction, the RSS BOD, Staff and Scientific Program Committee will not waiver on our commitment to provide the resources, education and support your needs to deliver the best care for your patients. The RSS is looking into alternate opportunities and virtual offerings for elements of the meeting.
